The More Things Change...

...the more they remain the same.

From this morning's Scripture reading in Psalm 106, which enumerates Israel's sins:

37 They sacrificed their sons
and their daughters to the demons;
38 they poured out innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus they became unclean by their acts,
and played the whore in their deeds. (Psalm 106:37-39, ESV)

Note that we need change only one word to describe our nation today:

They sacrificed their sons
and their daughters to the demons;
they poured out innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of convenience,
and the land was polluted with blood.
Thus they became unclean by their acts,
and played the whore in their deeds.

Scary indeed is that I am also reading from Jeremiah, and the punishment that comes to those nations that reject God's laws.
